uefa is beating around the bush. all this talk about the possibility of giving liverpool a champions league place as defending champions is not doing anything except 1) to please the jealous fans at highbury, old trafford and stamford bridge and 2) tease liverpool fans. it's teasing us because it may potentially give us false hope, rules are rules. however much it aches me, marcus bent and company earned their champions league place fairly, no doubt. ugly football, but then again, nice football doesn't get you anywhere. case in point, arsenal. liverpool haven't won the champions league yet but what people fail to realise is that liverpool football club has won so much more. getting to the champions league final with biscan, traore and nunez donning the famous red shirt is a miracle in the truest definition. i truly feel we are in the midst of a rebuilding process under rafa benitez. his calls for "more time" rings a familiar tune, but a tune that holds more hope. i sincerely hope steven gerrard is listening to that tune with a positive mindset. manchester united does not have that privilege. an aging squad, a manager at the wrong end of the life cycle and a couple of useless summer purchases, a positive rebuilding process is a long time coming. liverpool lost to minions like crystal palace and southampton, and manchester united lost to norwich and cannot beat west brom at home. liverpool are in the champions league final and manchester united is in the fa cup final. it's a subtle hint that the balance of power is tilting away from old trafford and highbury.
but football is like art, and like art, it's subjective. i think there is definately something positive to take away from this season despite the blue half of merseyside feasting their virgin tympanic membranes to the champions league anthem and that something is not going right in highbury and old trafford.

getting into the champions league final does not mean anything if you don't win it...so hold your breath
