The only striker I feel could 'replace' Rooney (even in the England line-up) or V. Nistelrooy would most definately be the most prolific striker in the Barclaycard English Premier League aka Peter Crouch (great touch for a big-lad / the truck), but the Kop has got him already..
Sigh.. it truly is a shame for the rest of the Premier League that Rafa has bought all the world's world-class players.. Crouch, Zenden..
I mean the players Real has bought - Julio 'The Beast' Baptista and Robinho 'wonderboy, the next Pele' pales in comparison to Crouch and Zenden..

Speaking of which... what has happened to our Baby-Faced Assasin, Solskjaer? If he doesn't come back this season, it's hard to see him coming back at all. He's turns 33 next year.

and loo, all that sarcasm oozing out from your post didnt go unnoticed. it baffles the mind that baros was let go so easily and crouch signed in a hurry. rafa must have his reasons, we'll see.
I know Mr Benitez will have his reasons.. He is a good manager.
But my mind is thoroughly baffled that Peter Crouch was signed and Baros was let go off.
He (Crouch) could surprise us all 'when' he becomes the Barclaycard English Premier League topscorer ahead of Van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Solskjaer and Henry (in that order)
Oh yea, and winning the European Footballer of the Year in the process..
